One of our clients, Liquid Highway, recently hosted their second annual “Hunger Hurts” fast and food drive here in Greenville. Though they set a goal of collecting 10,000 pounds of food to donate to local food kitchens, their collection exceeded 21,000 pounds.
Not to be left out of this wonderful endeavor, Dapper Ink donated to Liquid Highway 100 shirts to show our support. Our art director came up with an amazing hand drawn design (shown below). Keep an eye out for this shirt around town. These were given away to those who attended the food drive and showed their support by donating goods. We are already looking forward to participating next year. When the time comes, bring some food and get your own.
Even though our main focus is apparel design and printing, we’re certainly not afraid to branch out into other realms of the print industry. For us, the two design worlds of paper and apparel came together over the project that has kept us the busiest this summer, providing staff shirts for the Wilds camp in Brevard, North Carolina.
Because the Wilds has such an extensive staff, organizing and distributing their t-shirts can be quite the task. When we were asked if we could package the shirts in such a way to make this process easier, we welcomed the project. The first step to coming up with the best way to package the shirts was gathering inspiration for packaging designs. Besides collecting examples of good design as you come across them (we admit Fossil as one of our favorite sources), one of the best ways to start is a simple trip to the art section of your local Barnes & Noble. After a couple hours of looking, our art director came home with an excellent and rather expensive book of bags, tags, and label designs.
Well, we’ve pictured our finalized work. We thought a wide band with the camp information and the shirt size was best. We banded together the two shirts ordered by the Wilds, one short sleeve, one long, each one folded perfectly around a piece of chip board. The staff at the Wilds camp were so excited to get these, and we definitely think that we simplified their distribution process.
We are continually thankful for their business, an are already looking forward to next year’s edition.
